In accordance with Turkey’s visa policy for third countries, citizens of countries requiring a visa must obtain a visa appropriate to the purpose of their visit to Turkey.
The family reunification visa is a type of visa granted to foreign family members for the purpose of preserving family unity and is issued to foreigners who meet certain conditions.
Foreign nationals married to a citizen of the Republic of Turkey or a foreign national with a valid work or residence permit in Turkey, or their children, must apply for a family reunification visa by submitting the necessary documents to the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey on the appointment date.
Documents Required for a Turkish Family Reunification Visa
Foreign spouses and children applying for a family reunification visa through the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey must first apply for an appointment. The appointment application must be made to the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Turkey in the country of the foreigner’s nationality or permanent residence. On the appointment date, the foreign national is required to come to the Embassy in person with the following documents:
Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of visa application;
Biometric photograph;
Marriage certificate or Family Book (required from spouses);
Birth certificate or certified copy of the population registry (required from children).
Spouses and children who come to Turkey with a family reunification visa or under visa exemption can apply for a family residence permit and reside in Turkey. The family residence permit is issued for a maximum of 3 years, and if the spouse to be reunited is a foreign national, the residence permit to be granted to the spouse or children cannot exceed the duration of the sponsor’s residence permit.

Documents Required from Foreigners Married to Turkish Citizens:
Family Residence Permit Application Form;
Original and photocopy of the foreign spouse and/or children’s passports;
4 Photographs;
Marriage certificate or family book;
Original and photocopy of the Turkish spouse’s identity card;
Health insurance (required for both spouses);
Document showing the income level of the Turkish spouse;
Population registration sample;
Place of residence document;
Criminal record of the Turkish spouse.
Documents Required from Foreigners Married to Foreigners with Residence Permits in Turkey:
Family Residence Permit Application Form;
Original and photocopy of the foreign spouse’s and/or children’s passports;
4 Photographs;
Original and photocopy of the foreign spouse’s passport;
Original and photocopy of the foreign spouse’s residence or work permit (original and photocopy of this document if the spouse is a refugee or has subsidiary protection status);
Marriage certificate or Family Book;
Document showing the income level of the foreign spouse;
Health Insurance (required from both spouses);
Criminal record certificate (those who have resided in Turkey for more than 5 years are not required to bring a criminal record certificate from their own country);
Place of residence certificate.
